Shameless and unapologetic propaganda full of half-truths. And people who are relentlessly pushing the notion that the cup is half full to people for whom the cup is half empty.

But my resistance seems to be futile. Propaganda is everywhere, as people seem to be lost when not under its influence. Propagandists have their incentives. Sure, I do appreciate gentle reminders of how good life is or can be. But I am not a consumer of ideology, of unbridled optimism, of being pumped, of the Land of Oz. I do not depend on being moved with the ‘carrot and stick’ trick.

Marketers, politicians, entertainers, and the fantasy industry all can get too aggressive for my senses and sensibilities. Yet, it is hard to cut them and their unrealistic promises of satisfaction out. “I can have it all,” they say, “if only I would… buy into their agenda.”

Thanks, but no thanks.
